The Staples High School boys and girls cross country teams took on Westhill, Norwalk and Trumbull in their second meet of the season Tuesday in Westport. The boys defeated Norwalk, 18-42; Trumbull, 15-48; and Westhill, 17-46. Ben Aldrich won the race, covering the 5-kilometer course in 16:54. Jack Roche took second, and Kentaro Higuchi was fourth.
In the girls race, Trumbull defeated Staples, 25-31. The Wreckers (3-3) defeated Westhill, 20-42, and Norwalk, 15-50. Ingrid Johnson was Staples' top finisher, coming in fourth overall, for the girls at 18:21, followed closely by Emily Hanrahan at 18:25 on the 4,400-meter course.
